Aaron Salt
Board President
Academy School District 20Aaron Salt’s passion for education began after meeting a teacher in rural Alabama. It was then he realized more work needs to be done to support teachers and challenge students to achieve and grow academically.
Salt believes the public school system is the artery of our culture and that “what and how our students are taught” will determine the direction of our country. Elected to the Board of Education (BOE) in 2021, Salt also believes in parent’s choice.
Born in Alabama, Salt graduated from Auburn University with his undergraduate degree psychology. He later earned a master’s degree in social work from Florida State University where he worked in residential adolescent rehabilitation centers. Years later, he moved to Colorado Springs to be close to family.
Before joining the ASD20 BOE, Salt was a founding board member for New Summit Charter Academy. There, he served as Board Chair until September 2021.
Married for 11 years and a father of four, Salt finds time to have fun. When he’s not working, he enjoys packing up the whole family for a weekend to go camping. He also has an intense passion for fantasy football. In fact, he previously hosted a podcast dedicated to the “sport.” Salt is a fierce advocate for the Oxford comma and argues, “White Christmas” is the best Christmas movie ever created.
