April Chandler

Algonkian District

Loudoun County Public Schools

April Moore Chandler is the Algonkian District School Board Representative. April is from rural Kentucky and grew up in coastal South Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the College of Charleston. She has lived in the Metropolitan Washington area for 24 years, moving to Sterling in 2007.

April came to Washington, DC to work in bipartisan politics, beginning her career at Quinn Gillespie and Associates, where she learned the value of collaboration over division before moving into the legal field, where she worked in electronic discovery and legal technology instruction at both Arnold & Porter and Capital One.

April chose to stay home when her children were young, then returned to work as a preschool teacher, first at Trinity Preschool and later at Galilee Christian School, providing young learners with a strong baseline that prepared them for advancing to more formal schooling. An active and engaged parent of Loudoun County Public School students, April has served in multiple leadership positions for Algonkian District-based Parent-Teacher Associations. She has also gained important exposure to the inner workings of Loudoun’s school system through her experience working as a substitute teacher in various Sterling schools and as the Algonkian District School Board Staff Aide.

April invests her time in the causes she believes in, and over the past decade she has volunteered for various local and national civic organizations, including LINK Against Hunger, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Together We Will Loudoun and other groups.

April resides in the Countryside area of Sterling with her husband, Paul; their two children; and their labradoodle, Leo.
