Kyle McDaniel
Board Member, At-Large
Fairfax County Public SchoolsKyle McDaniel (he/him) began his term as a Member At-Large on January 1, 2024.
Kyle has called Fairfax County home for over two decades. He is a graduate of George Mason University with a B.S. in Public Administration, and American University with a Master of Public Administration. His academic work focused on public finance, administration, and state and local government. He has a passion for local government and was previously an aide to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
Kyle entered the private sector and started two companies with his family. As a result of the COVID pandemic, both companies were closed in early 2020. With a newborn at home, he quickly pivoted to aviation and became a professional pilot. In December of 2020, he started a flight school at Manassas Regional Airport, and found success in providing high-quality flight training with superior customer service. Today, the flight school is the area’s largest and highest rated, with five locations throughout the region. He received the Emerging Business of the Year Award from the Prince William County Chamber of Commerce, and is an Airline Transport Pilot flying for an international charter company.
With a passion for training tomorrow’s aviators, Kyle has built partnerships with secondary and post-secondary institutions to create aviation career pathways in hopes of exposing students to all the opportunities offered by the industry.
Kyle is excited to work collaboratively with his colleagues to ensure every student in Fairfax County receives a world class education. His initiatives include bolstering school safety, addressing teacher shortages, tackling mental health challenges for students and staff, closing achievement gaps, eliminating school meal debt, and leading FCPS out of COVID, into a brighter future.
Although he wears many hats, his favorite is being a dad to his two little girls, and a husband to his wife.
