Academy School District 20Lauren Yanez is a mother of five, grandmother to two, and educator who believes in spending every day doing what is best for kids. After marrying her college sweetheart, Marcus, she stayed home to raise her children in the suburbs of Chicago. There she served as a MOPPETS coordinator and helped write Sunday school curriculum. When she moved to Colorado Springs, she served as an advocate with CASA, the Court Appointed Special Advocates. During that time, she completed a degree in Rhetoric and Writing at UCCS, while also obtaining her teaching license. She went on to teach third, fifth, and sixth grade English in Academy District 20. She then completed her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Principal Licensure at UCCS. Because of her lifelong commitment to children, and her deep understanding of school systems and processes, Lauren is excited to use her skills and abilities to support the mission and vision Academy District 20.
