Anoka-Hennepin Public School District is the largest public school district in the state of Minnesota. Located in Anoka, a suburb of Minneapolis, AHPSD is host to 51 total schools with an enrollment of over 39,000 students.

The Anoka-Hennepin school board held a public school board meeting on August 23, 2021, where they decided to force children to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status. “If our children were participating in a classroom that resembled some of the activity that is happening in this building tonight, I would be disgusted and disappointed,” one school board member said of the behavior at the meeting. The board member said this in response to the massive crowd of parents who showed up to fight for the right to choose what is best for their children.

Anoka-Hennepin openly and proudly lists its “Inclusion and Diversity” plan on the district website. Their goal is to improve the district’s multicultural resources and learning opportunities, provide program evaluation through “data-driven” decisions, and increase the number of teachers of color. The district is proud to make race their top priority when it comes to hiring teachers and staff.
