“Parents have expressed concerns after Gilbert Public Schools (GPS) teachers performed a same-sex ‘wedding’ in front of all their kindergarteners. Val Vista Lakes Elementary School reportedly posted images of the event on their Facebook page, and GPS liked them. It appears the photos have since been deleted.”

AZ Free News continued,

“Teachers Makayla Krinsky, Suzanne Lunt, and Tina Selles, along with Principal Patrick Miller, were pictured participating in the event. The ‘wedding’ is a popular lesson plan among educators to teach kindergarteners about how the letter ‘u’ always follows the letter ‘q’ in English spelling.”

The pro-parental rights organization “Not in Our Schools” published a blog that included the now-deleted photos (see below).

The blog “Kinder Craze” describes the lesson as “a silly, fanciful, wonderful way to teach students the spelling pattern of “qu” in a way that is truly memorable.” The blog includes pictures of small children parading the letters through a school gymnasium:

Not in Our Schools wrote:

“While this kindergarten lesson may have been prepared with no harm intended, the scenario will confuse the children…Children can’t unsee these images. It is no wonder mental health issues have risen in kids when the adults in the room don’t have proper boundaries.”

Gilbert Public Schools and the Gilbert Police Department are investigating alleged incidents of discrimination at Gilbert High School (GHS).

According to Arizona’s Family, Deion Smith, a senior student and football player at GHS claims he was discriminated against for months after some of his teammates assaulted him in September 2022.

Smith spent a school day getting dental work done “on a tooth he says was knocked out by a teammate.” Regarding the incident, Smith said, “He had hit me in my jaw, and caused my tooth to fall out…So then I’m noticing, I’m bleeding, I’m leaking.” After this occurred, Smiths said he “quickly became outnumbered in a physical altercation with his Gilbert Tigers teammates.”

When Gilbert football coach Derek Zellner discovered what happened, Smith said, “[Zellner] just patted me on my shoulder and said to just keep it in the locker room. That everything is going to be ok.” The coach’s response made Smith decide not to return to the football team and GHS.

According to Arizona’s Family, Smith’s mother, April Miles, said her son received “months of hostile, even racist treatment…including multiple verbal abuse instances.” According to Miles, no actions have been taken by either the district or the police department.
