EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Updated – May 15, 2024

Montgomery Township School District (MTSD) Board Member Zelda Spence Wallace stepped down after she was allegedly caught stealing thousands of dollars from a school district where she was employed.

On April 19, 2024, Patch News reported, “[Wallace] was charged with third-degree theft by deception and third-degree theft of movable property on March 29 for stealing $13,086 from the Plainfield School District, where she has been employed as an administrator.”

The initial report by The Monty News confirmed that Spence Wallace was the supervisor of the Out-of-School Programs in Plainfield School District. The source said:

“Count 1 claims that she ‘gave a false impression that collecting funds were for a charitable purpose and subsequently not fulfilling that promise.’ It alleges that [she] ‘collected $7,026 in the form of electronic payments between March 2021 and May 2023 that were intended for the Plainfield Board of Education’s 21st Century Program, and using said funds toward personal gains.’”

The Monty News continued:

“The second change (theft of movable property) claims that Spence Wallace took ‘physical cash in the amount of $6,060 between April 2022 and July 2023’ belonging to the Plainfield School Board and meant for the 21st Century Program.”

In June 2022, Montgomery Village Elementary School (VES) — located in the Montgomery Township School District  — officially hosted a drag queen story hour for students in grades K-4. The Montgomery News reported, “The Montgomery Township Education Association (MTEA) sponsored the optional extracurricular activity for students and their parents.”

Montgomery News also said, “[A]bout 12 unexpected adult guests showed up at story time and assembled outside [VES], where the in-person event was held on Monday, June 13…Police were called to the scene to keep the peace.”

In addition to allowing cross-dressers into schools, the Montgomery Township School District also uses its students to promote Black Lives Matter — a Marxist organization that advocates violence and defunding police departments.

The District’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) page says the district is “committed to improving the educational experiences of all students through fostering a culturally inclusive and responsive environment.” The page links to a centralized page for each school’s DEI curriculum site.
