Natrona County School District 1
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Published – October 5, 2021
Natrona County School District is the second largest school district in the state of Wyoming. The district has a total of 28 schools with roughly 13,300 students enrolled.
NCSD approved pandemic guidelines in August 2021 which established the school district’s “masks optional” approach. District Superintendent, Walt Wilcox, also stated that “Students/staff will not be bullied or shamed for wearing a face-covering or not wearing a face covering.”
Republicans in Wyoming created a bill that would mandate “equality and equal rights” in schools curriculum, rather than anticipating federal mandates to teach Critical Race Theory. This legislation would teach children about equal rights, slavery, and American History in an age appropriate fashion and through a pro-American lens. The point of pushing this legislation is to protect children from the indoctrination of hateful curriculum like Critical Race Theory.
