EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
St. Lucie Public Schools enroll 41,859 students across 68 High Schools.
In June of 2021, the Florida Board of Education voted unanimously to ban Critical Race Theory (CRT) from the Florida state K-12 curriculum. The following year, the State rejected 41% of math textbooks for including elements of CRT that violated the state’s prohibition.
Florida further passed the “Parental Rights in Education Bill” in April of 2022 which prohibits the teaching of gender identity and sexual orientation to grades K–3 while expanding parental oversight of schools.
