In May 2022, Fox News uncovered a series of emails between several teachers and a counselor at Charles F. Patton Middle School that revealed their attempt to hide a student’s preferred pronouns from their parents. In an email to teachers, the school counselor wrote,
“She is fine too, but [the student] likes ‘they/them’ the best.”
The counselor then told the teachers:
“If you are emailing home, it may be best to use she/her when referring to [the student.]”
Another email obtained by Fox News discusses a club at Unionville High School called the “Gender Sexuality Alliance” (GSA). The high school website describes the club as:
“A student-run club which provides a safe place for student ts to meet, support each other, talk about issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, and work to end homophobia and transphobia.”
The emails revealed a middle school counselor and teacher discussing how to start a similar club at the school or allow students the opportunity to attend the club at the high school.
