Westonka Public Schools
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Westonka Public School District is located in Minnetrista, Minnesota. The school district has over 2,500 students enrolled with 5 schools in operation.
WPS has passed a Cultural Competency Plan. The plan discusses “breaking down barriers” that prevent students from reaching their highest potential. The district also discusses creating Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion programs and basing curriculum on cultural perspectives and culturally appropriate subject matter.
WPS has also faced legal issues surrounding board elections. The school board packet shows that the district appointed only “deputy clerks” to their absentee ballot board, which is in charge of accepting and rejecting all the district’s absentee ballots in the school board elections. Their resolution shows the intention to appoint five deputy clerks and ZERO election judges to the ballot board. This is illegal in the State of Minnesota, as the law says districts must appoint election judges for absentee ballot boards. This decision leaves room for immense voter fraud and untrustworthy practices.
