According to KWTV News 9, former Wewoka Middle School Principal Cody Barlow was arrested for “child sexual assault charges [and] is out [of jail] on a $100,000 bond.” Barlow has been accused of “fondling a child” and was put on administrative leave on October 12.
The male child reported to authorities that there was inappropriate contact on multiple occasions throughout the school year. In September, Barlow’s actions intensified and the child was sexually assaulted, Oklahoma News 4 reports.
The district recently released a statement regarding the arrest:
“Wewoka Public Schools is committed to providing a safe learning environment for its students. The school district is aware of the arrest of an employee of the district. It is the policy of the Wewoka School District to immediately investigate allegations of misconduct and take immediate action to protect our students. The School District will provide assistance to any student who might be impacted and coordinate with the student’s family to ensure the student has the resources to move forward with their educational opportunities. Wewoka School District policies and procedures will be followed regarding the reporting, investigation and resolution of any allegations of misconduct by an employee of the district.”
